Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on July 21, 2026, issued a notification regarding the revision of Wrong Payment Reversal Request (WP) and the introduction of Deferred Fraud Chargeback (DFC) in IMPS IRCS.

The following has been stated: -

•The circular introduces enhancements to the IMPS IRCS dispute management module regarding Wrong Payment Reversal Requests (WP) and Deferred Fraud Chargebacks (DFC).

•Member banks can now raise Deferred Wrong Payment Reversal Requests and Deferred Fraud Chargeback adjustments even if a Transaction Credit Confirmation (TCC) has been raised for deemed approved transactions.

•The wrong credit chargeback process is restructured into a dedicated dispute category with unique dispute types, reason codes, and specific flags.

•Three new line items are introduced in NTSL: Wrong payment reversal request (WP), Deferred wrong payment reversal request, and Deferred fraud chargebacks.
